At our optical, we offer a wide variety of lens options to fit your prescription and your visual demands. Daphnee, our optician, and Dr. Garibyan take pride in constantly learning about and utilizing the latest technologically advanced products in our optical. Most people are aware of designer frames, but some fail to recognize that there are also different brands of eyeglass lenses. Your frame design makes you look good, but it does not determine how well you will see. Since it is the quality and design of the lens that gives you clear, comfortable, precise vision, we choose very carefully to only provide designer lens brands that perform well.

We prescribe specialty single vision with near fatigue reduction lenses for those who have significant near tasks on a computer, smartphone, or tablet – basically everyone. In the last few years, viewing ranges have dramatically changed to primarily near tasks. This lens design alleviates eyestrain and significantly reduces fatigue caused by our everyday near task routines without disturbing our distance vision.

We use designer brand progressive lenses that are digitally surfaced on the front and back to provide not only a more comfortable transition between far and near distances, but a much wider viewing zone and virtual elimination of the swaying sensation in peripheral vision. The advances in lens design technology make it possible for us to customize these lens designs even more specifically to your needs. Together we examine your specific tasks, working distances, and your frame so your progressive is truly meant for you!

We offer a variety of lens coatings. The most crucial is anti-glare treatment. This eliminates reflections so others can see your eyes better. But, more importantly, it eliminates reflections so you can see better at any light conditions. We use premium anti-glare treatments to scratch proof your lenses as well as repel dirt and dust to make cleaning your lenses easier.

Sun Protection Options

We offer clear UV coating for those who want additional sun protection without darkening the lenses. However, most people do prefer tint in their lenses when they are in direct sunlight. Polarized lenses offer maximum protection as they block UV rays directly coming toward your eyes and as they bounce from other objects around you. Depending on how and where you will be using your sun protective lens determines what the best option is for you. An additional separate pair of prescription sunglasses that always remain tinted are a good option for some. Variable tinted driving sunglasses are available for those who need sunglasses that will actually change tint color with varying lighting conditions on the road. For others, photochromic lenses that are completely clear indoors and dark in direct sunlight is a good feature to have. Now, we have photochromic lenses that darken slightly in the car while still remaining clear indoors. Recent technological advances have even given us lenses that polarize as they get darker to give the ultimate in protection against all harmful UV rays at all possible conditions. Separate clip on sunglasses can be custom made to fit any frames.

Contact Lenses

Virtually all types of prescriptions can be corrected with contact lens parameters currently available. We have lenses for nearsighteness, farsightedness, astigmastism, and presbyopia.

Virtually all types of prescriptions can be corrected with contact lens parameters currently available. We have lenses for nearsighteness, farsightedness, astigmastism, and presbyopia. Contact lenses offer benefits such as clear peripheral vision and physical freedom of not having glasses on. Now, we even have multifocal (progressive) lens designs that can successfully correct both far and near vision at the same time in each eye for those who previously had no choice but to use reading glasses over their distance contact lenses. Dr. Garibyan has been successfully fitting many of our patients with this revolutionary lens design since it came on the market not too long ago. Based on how often and in what setting you plan to use your contact lenses, we have a wide variety of options for the contact lens material as well. Soft contact lens types range from daily disposable available for one time use to extended wear lenses that you can wear multiple times. Now, we even have soft lenses that are safe and comfortable to sleep in for most people. For those patients with irregular corneas as a result of keratoconnus, injury, or refractive surgery, Dr. Garibyan may recommend use of gas permeable (hard) contact lenses. Whether you wish to accentuate your eye color or to completely change it, cosmetic color contact lenses are also available at our office either in daily disposable to multiple use types. To Dr. Garibyan, it is a priority to stay educated and provide the newest advances in contact lens manufacturing directly to her patients. Because of this, in her practice you can count on being fitted only with the most breathable, most comfortable, and optically superior contact lenses available.

One of the most common eye related issues, especially in the Los Angeles area, is Dry Eye Syndrome. Most people experience symptoms deficiency such as stinging, burning, redness, grittiness “like there is sand in the eyes”, fluctuating vision and believe it or not even watery eyes. Tear layer deficiency can have many causes such as eyelid diseases, use of certain medications, thyroid disease, hormonal changes in women, aging of the eyes, cold weather, computer use, air conditioned environments and many more. Many people suffer unnecessarily through the discomfort of dry eyes or mistakenly use over the counter drops that only temporarily remove the redness (and usually cause even more problems in the long run). As a part of your comprehensive examination, we check for tear layer for evidence of any deficiencies. For those who need specialized treatment, we can determine the underlying cause and employ a variety of treatments to alleviate their symptoms at our dye eye clinic visits.

Dr Melanya Garibyan

I grew up in the Southern California region, not far from where I currently practice. After graduating from U.C.L.A with honors in biochemistry, I obtained my Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry and became a TPA certified Optometrist in 2004.I obtained wide clinical experience in general family eye care, difficult contact lens fits, low vision services, and ocular disease management during my training and subsequent work experiences. After obtaining extensive clinical experience in a fast-paced non-profit clinic where I treated over 30 patients a day, in 2007 I transitioned to my current private practice in Burbank. Here, I enjoy practicing in a smaller, more personal atmosphere where I can spend the time to provide you, my patients, with high quality examinations and the unique solutions to your individual vision needs. When I am not at work, I am almost completely monopolized by parenthood. I spend most of my time with my family and my two wonderful kids, 9 year old Sophie and 6 year old Sam. I am very active in my volunteer work at their schools and various activities.

Daphnee

One of Daphnee’s main responsibilities is to remain informed and to educate us all about the latest in the optical field, so you will always be presented with the most technologically advanced options available. She will assure you look great in your glasses but more importantly that you see flawlessly.
