Comprehensive Eye Examinations

Comprehensive eye examinations will always consist of two parts, a check of your visual abilities and performance followed by a thorough health evaluation. We will evaluate your visual system and prescribe appropriate treatment, whether it be with glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery. The health evaluation will check for glaucoma, cataracts, dry-eyes, as well as high blood pressure, diabetes, and other systemic diseases. You will never feel rushed through your visits with us. We always schedule ample time with the doctor so all your personal needs can be identified and properly managed. Patient education is of great importance to us, so all our findings will be thoroughly discussed with you and any questions will be answered. We offer complete eye care for children above 2 and adults.

Dry Eye Clinic

One of the most common eye related issues, especially in the Los Angeles area, is Dry Eye Syndrome. Most people experience symptoms deficiency such as stinging, burning, redness, grittiness “like there is sand in the eyes”, fluctuating vision and believe it or not even watery eyes. Tear layer deficiency can have many causes such as eyelid diseases, use of certain medications, thyroid disease, hormonal changes in women, aging of the eyes, cold weather, computer use, air conditioned environments and many more. Many people suffer unnecessarily through the discomfort of dry eyes or mistakenly use over the counter drops that only temporarily remove the redness (and usually cause even more problems in the long run). As a part of your comprehensive examination, we check for tear layer for evidence of any deficiencies. For those who need specialized treatment, we can determine the underlying cause and employ a variety of treatments to alleviate their symptoms at our dye eye clinic visits.

Dr Melanya Garibyan

I grew up in the Southern California region, not far from where I currently practice. After graduating from U.C.L.A with honors in biochemistry, I obtained my Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry and became a TPA certified Optometrist in 2004.I obtained wide clinical experience in general family eye care, difficult contact lens fits, low vision services, and ocular disease management during my training and subsequent work experiences. After obtaining extensive clinical experience in a fast-paced non-profit clinic where I treated over 30 patients a day, in 2007 I transitioned to my current private practice in Burbank. Here, I enjoy practicing in a smaller, more personal atmosphere where I can spend the time to provide you, my patients, with high quality examinations and the unique solutions to your individual vision needs. When I am not at work, I am almost completely monopolized by parenthood. I spend most of my time with my family and my two wonderful kids, 9 year old Sophie and 6 year old Sam. I am very active in my volunteer work at their schools and various activities.
